摘要
翼化堂善書局成立於1857年,是近代上海一家以出版善書和佛道教典籍聞名的出版機構,其活動歷史接近百年。20世紀30年代的一份《書目》廣告顯示,翼化堂善書局出版了數量衆多的全真教書籍,涉及全真祖師、明清全真高道,内容多數與全真教的内丹修煉有關。翼化堂善書局之所以將丹道典籍作爲道書出版的主要方向,一方面與陳攖寧提倡仙學的影響有關,另一方面也顯示出全真教内丹知識在近代上海這樣一個深受西方文明影響的都市社會中,依然還有相當的市場需求。
Yihuatang Shanshu Ju(翼化堂善書局,The Yihuatang Morality Books Press),established in 1857 in Shanghai,was famous for publishing Buddhist and Taoist morality books.The history of its activities spans nearly a hundred years.Based on an advertisement known as Shu'mu(《書目》,bibliography)from the 1930s,the press had published a plethora of Quanzhen Taoist books.These publications dealt with early Quanzhen masters and later Quanzhen adepts in the Ming and Qing dynasties,and most of their contents pertained to internal alchemy cultivation.The fact thatthe publisher made alchemy the topic of its main publications was partially due to the influence of the immortality theory proposed by Chen Yingning.The prevalence of such books,on the other hand,also indicates that the knowledge of internal alchemy of Quanzhen Taoists was still in demand in modern Shanghai,an urban society deeply impacted by Western civilization.
