摘要
翻译功能理论为旅游宣传材料的翻译策略研究提供了新视角,以旅游宣传材料的汉英翻译为中心,分析了旅游材料传递信息,吸引游客和对外宣传文化的功能,联系翻译功能理论相关的"以中国文化为取向,以译文为重点"的英译原则,并探讨删减、改写、增补等具体的翻译策略,使译文能够达到预期效果,起到沟通交流的目的。
The functional translation theory contributes to translation of tourist materials greatly. This paper analyzes functions of tourist materials: disseminating information, appealing to tourists and publicizing culture. The author holds that the principle of orienting towards Chinese culture and achieving intended functions should be adhered to in translation of tourist materials from Chinese to English. It also explores the specific translation strategies such as adding or canceling some cultural information, rewriting some traditional sentence structures of Chinese and adapting the pattern of the discourse, which can help foreign tourists to understand tourist materials better and become more interested in appreciating Chinese beautiful scenic spots. Consequently, the purpose of attracting tourists and transmitting Chinese culture can be achieved.
