The results of epidemiological investigation showed that environmental exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF EMFs) was probably associated with the risk for several types of cancer, such as leukemia, breast cancer, brain cancer and so on, and was likely to have adverse effects on reproductive, nervous, cardiovascular and endocrine systems. These conclusions were partly supported by laboratory studies in human bodies. However, current evidences were too inadequate and weak to draw a definite conclusion about health effects of ELF EMFs, therefore, further research at all levels is urgently needed.
