摘要
目的探索产出导向法(production-oriented approach,POA)在医学研究生学术英语写作教学中的应用效果。方法采用试验对照方法,于2023年10月至11月,选取杭州医学院研究生英语课程A班58名研究生和B班56名研究生为研究对象,通过前测获得基线水平后,将其分别设为试验组和对照组。试验组研究生采用POA进行学术英语写作教学,对照组研究生采用传统体裁法进行学术英语写作教学。通过比较两组研究生教学前后学术英语写作的分数变化值以及研究生教学效果评价问卷调查结果,对不同教学方法的实施效果进行评价。结果在学术英语写作的语言、内容和结构3个核心指标上,试验组研究生的分数提升均高于对照组研究生[3(2,4)vs.0(0,2),4(3,4)vs.1(0,2),1(0,2)vs.0(0,1)],其差异均具有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。问卷调查结果显示,试验组研究生在教学方法满意度、教学内容理解度和写作技能进步自我感知的评分上均高于对照组研究生[4(4,5)vs.4(3,4),4(4,4)vs.4(3,4),4(4,5)vs.4(3,4)],其差异均具有统计学意义(均P<0.001)。结论POA在医学研究生学术英语写作教学中的应用效果显著,可以提高研究生的学术英语写作能力和研究生对课程教学的整体评价。
Objective To explore the application effect of the production-oriented approach(POA)in academic English writing instruction for medical postgraduates.Methods A trial-control method was adopted.From October to November 2023,58 postgraduates from Class A and 56 postgraduates from Class B of the postgraduate English course at Hangzhou Medical College were selected as research subjects,after obtaining the baseline level through pre-testing,and they were respectively set as the experimental group and the control group.The experimental group postgraduates were taught academic English writing using POA,while the control group postgraduates were taught using the traditional genre-based method.The effects of different teaching methods were evaluated by comparing the changes in scores of academic English writing before and after teaching,as well as the results of postgraduates course evaluation questionnaires.Results In the three core indicators of academic English writing,namely language,content,and structure,the score improvement of the experimental group postgraduates were all higher than those of the control group postgraduates[3(2,4)vs.0(0,2),4(3,4)vs.1(0,2),1(0,2)vs.0(0,1)],and the differences were all statistically significant(all P<0.05).The questionnaire survey results showed that the experimental group postgraduates satisfaction with the teaching method,their understanding of the course content,and their selfperceived progress in writing skills were all higher than those of the control group postgraduates[4(4,5)vs.4(3,4),4(4,4)vs.4(3,4),4(4,5)vs.4(3,4)],and the differences were all statistically significant(all P<0.001).Conclusions The application of the POA teaching method in academic English writing instruction for medical postgraduates significantly improved the postgraduatesacademic English writing ability and their overall evaluation of the course teaching.
