《常用标志英文译法手册》一书针对国内公示语翻译中普遍存在的问题,参考北美公共标识内容,制定了科学合理、切实可行的双语标志规范。对这一本书的阅读与研究,将会帮助学习者走出认识论和方法论上的局限,更为全面、科学地理解公示语翻译的原则、特质和策略,建立起开放、动态、具有文化性和系统性的翻译观,更好地为提升城市的文明程度、改善城市形象而努力。
＂Picture Manual for Sign Translation＂, a book compiled by Professor Yang Yonglin, puts forward a guideline for the standardized use of English public signs in Chinese context by looking into existing errors in this respect and referring to North American regulations. The book carries out a systematic, all-round examination of principles, features and strategies of public sign translation. The study of this book may help researchers establish an open, culture-oriented translation conception of development to make due contributions to the creation of civilized and modernized city images.
