With the advances in innovative information and management tools,the core of manufacturing has shifted from the physical production of goods to the systematic processing of knowledge.The digital factory provides an interactive computer simulation platform to reduce the product development cycle,optimize the manufacturing processes and production logistics in a digital environment prior to actual production,and also link up geographically dispersed enterprises,suppliers and customers in the virtual market space.The successful launching of the digital factory relies not only on technological issues but also a fundamental change in the operation model of modern business.The future competitiveness of the manufacturing business depends on a close matching of the physical factory and the digital factory.
