The rocker-type pumping unit described in this article has a crank-rocker mechanism and a wobble wheel instead of the pitman, walking beam and horsehead of a conventional pumping unit, and uses compressed air instead of the counterweights. The prime motor rotates in a fixed direction and the alternating motion of the carrier bar is accomplished by the crank-rocker mechanism.The unit is characterizied by smooth and reliable reverse and good balance. It can work with long stroke at low pumping speed, so it is suitable for deep well exploitation and thick oil production.
