摘要
本文综述和分析了 80年代以来英语修辞学在中国的二十年发展历程 ,着重探讨了国外英语修辞学理论的引进、中国英语修辞学在辞格研究、英汉修辞对比、应用研究三个方面所取得的主要成就 ,以及英语修辞学从传统走向现代这一基本态势。并试图预测 2 1世纪中国的英语修辞学研究的三个发展趋势。
This paper traces the development of English rhetoric as a scholarly interest in China since the 1980s, calling attention to major achievements in three areas: the studies of English figures, the contrastive studies of English versus Chinese rhetoric, and the application of knowledge about English rhetoric for various purposes. In view of what has been happening to rhetorical studies in the West, the author predicts that its counterpart in China would also move toward a more dynamic, more interdisciplinary, and more Chinese-based approach.
