摘要
理雅各英译儒经是汉学界和翻译史上纪念碑式的作品,理氏译本在阐释、翻译、注释、绪论、文体诸方面均有自己的特色,译者忠于原作、贴近原语、善为读者考虑;但理译也存在明显的时代局限性。
James Legge′s translations of Confucianict classics constitute a monument in the history of Sinology and translation. This paper, through an analysis of Legge′s prominent interpretative and translational features as well as the notes, prolegomena, indexes and style of his Confucianist translations, arrives at the conclusion that, though not without their own problems of the given times, his translations are strikingly faithful to the original meaning, close to the original form and marked with painstaking efforts to facilitate reader comprehension.
