Molecular Structure of Poly (vinyl chloride) Resin Prepared by a New Heterogeneous Polymerization Process

摘要 聚氯乙烯(PVC)树脂通常采用自由基本体聚合、悬浮聚合和乳液聚合方法制备. Vinyl chloride(VC) heterogeneous polymerizations, using ?butane as the reaction medium and bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate as the initiator, were carried out to prepare poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) resins. The chain structure, molecular weight (Mw) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of resulting PVC resins were characterized by using 1H NMR and GPC, respectively. It was shown that more PVC chains with -CH2-CH2Cl end group were formed in the new polymerization process. The Mw of resulting PVC was lower than that of suspension PVC prepared at the same polymerization temperature and the index of MWD was greater. The Mw decreased and index of MWD increased with the increase of polymerization conversion. The variations on PVC chain structure, Mw and MWD were caused by the chain transfer reaction of PVC macroradicals to n-butane.
