摘要
本文以沙特阿拉伯英语教育的历史发展及其文化身份转型为研究对象,梳理了从19世纪中叶英沙关系萌芽到“2030愿景”实施期间的英语教育历程。研究通过霍米·巴巴的“第三空间”理论,分析了沙特社会在英语教育推广中身份构建的动态过程。结果表明,英语教育在沙特不仅是语言教学的技术实践,更是国家现代化进程与传统文化保护之间的复杂博弈;“2030愿景”框架下的英语教育体现了沙特政府在全球化与本土化之间的平衡策略。
This study examines the historical development of English education in Saudi Arabia and its transformation in cultural identity.It traces the trajectory of English education from the emergence of Anglo-Saudi relations in the mid-19th century to the implementation of Vision 2030.By using Homi Bhabha’s“Third Space”theory,the study analyzes the dynamic process of identity construction in Saudi society through the promotion of English education.The findings indicate that English education in Saudi Arabia is not merely a technical exercise in language instruction but a complex interplay between national modernization and the preservation of traditional culture.Within the Vision 2030 framework,English education exemplifies the Saudi government’s strategic balance between globalization and localization.
