The rapid development and deployment of artificial intelligence(AI)is driving profound transformations in global education systems. However, the practical implementation of AI in education reveals highly divergent outcomes, highlighting a fundamental tension between technological logic and institutional structures.Based on a three-dimensional analytical perspective from the New Institutionalism, this study constructs a dynamic framework of“Embedding-Friction-Recalibration”to systematically examine China’s policy practices and local pilot cases of AI in education(AIEd).The research aims to uncover the full process and internal mechanisms of initial collision, structural frictions, and adaptive recalibration as AI enters the education system. The findings indicate that the adaptation challenges AI face in China’s educational field are closely related to institutional rigidity, conflicting role expectations conflicts, and cognitive biases. The effectiveness of AI is not determined by how advanced the technology is,but by whether the institutional system can be recalibrated. The key of AIEd implementation hinges on the system’s capacity for institutional learning and adaptive flexibility.Through policy boundary adjustments, organizational restructuring, and cognitive negotiation,China’s education system has gradually achieved staged and conditional integration of AI technologies, thereby demonstrating a localized,non-linear,recalibration-driven path of institutional innovation.
