VMware Virtual Disk Performance Comparison Test

摘要 虚拟化技术的目标是实现资源利用率的最大化,是构建云基础架构不可或缺的关键技术。文章针对VMware虚拟机的精简置备、厚置备置零、直通磁盘三种格式磁盘性能进行测试比较,测试结果表明使用精简置备虚拟磁盘虽然可以灵活配置存储空间,但是磁盘性能有较为明显的降低,比厚置备虚拟磁盘低约7%-27%,厚置备虚拟磁盘与直通磁盘的差距在4%-27%,由此可以帮助用户根据不同的需要做出选择。 The goal of virtualization technology is to achieve the maximization of resource utilization,which is the key technology to build cloud infrastructure.In this paper,the thin provision,the thick provision eager zeroed and the RDM disk of VMware virtual machine are compared.The test results show that the thin provision of virtual disks,while saving storage,is significantly lower than the thick provision virtual disk by about 7%to 27%,and the gap between the thick provision virtual disk and the RDM disk is between 4%and 27%.This can help users make choices according to different needs.
