摘要
益智书会是清末新教来华传教士的一个全国性教育组织。该会曾编译出版过很多科学教科书,并为编译教科书而从事统一术语译名的工作。本文综述益智书会统一科技术语的工作与成就,讨论该会编辑出版的两部科技术语词典《协定化学名目》(公元1901年)和《术语辞汇》(公元1904年)。此外,还简要介绍了益智书会成立前传教士翻译和统一科技术语的工作。
The Educational Association of China(EAC,formerly the School andText-Books Series Committee)organized by the Protestants in 1877 hadmade efforts to standardize the Chinese scientific terminology in the late 19thcentury and early 20th century.This paper summarizes EAC's work for thestandardization of scientific terminology,and discusses the Chemical Termsand Nomenclature and Technical Terms edited by it.
