摘要
社会服务职能是美国高等学校所承担的一项重要职能。这一职能经历了自殖民地时期以来的漫长发展过程 ,既是长期以来美国高等学校注重服务于社会发展的自然结果 ,同时还是高等教育领域内部不同高等教育哲学观念长期斗争的产物。事实上 ,美国社会未来的发展也在客观上要求美国高等学校以一种新的“合作”
Social service is an important function perfomed by American colleges and universities. This function, which has undergone a long developing process since the Colonial Period, is the outcome of long period conflicts among various philosophical views on higher education as well as the natural product of long period emphasis of American colleges and universities on serving the social development. Actually, the future development of American society objectively requires that American colleges and universities perform their social service funciton in a new co operative way.
