The historical development of semiconductor technology in past 50 years is briefly described in this paper, including transistors, integrated circuits, power semiconductor devices, semiconductor materials and their current status. Also, the development trend for semiconductor technology and its roles to be played in information age at the beginning of the 21st century are forecasted.
