摘要
以河南省焦作市为例,探讨了道路交通公示语的英语翻译规范化问题。在焦作市广泛搜集了大量的道路交通英文公示语,并结合在美国搜集到的大量英语平行文本,在林克难"看易写"原则和丁衡祁ABC模式(the Adapt-Borrow-Create模仿-借用-创新)的指导下,对一些不规范的英文公示语进行了分类和完善。并指出,从根本上改进道路交通的英文公示语需要翻译界、政府部门、道路交通相关部门和普通大众等的共同努力。
Taking Jiaozuo as an example, this research aims to explore the standardization of English public signs for roads and traffic. Based on the bilingual public signs for roads and traffic in Jiaozuo and plenty of English parallel text which was collected by the author in America, some non-standard English public signs are classified and improved under the guidance of Lin Kenan＇ s principle of ＂looking, changing and writing＂ and Ding Hengqi＇ s model of ABC（the Adapt-Borrow-Create）. Moreover, it＇s also pointed out that translators, the government, relevant departments of roads and traffic, and public people should co-operate in order to improve the bi- lingual public signs for roads and traffic.
