摘要
傅兰雅,中国近代翻译史上译书最多的传教士。作为江南制造总局翻译馆的外籍译员,在晚清西学东渐中,担当了相当重要的角色。有关傅兰雅的论著多以其译书史学贡献为研究对象,鲜有以专门译本探究其翻译策略。以傅兰雅、应祖锡合译的《佐治刍言》为例,探究傅兰雅的翻译策略。
John Fryer, as a foreign translator, was an outstanding missionary in the Translation House of Jiangnan Manufacture General Administration, who translated the most western books on science and technology into China. However, the studies on him were focused on his thoughts or historical contributions to China in the modern times and fewer researches were on his translation. This paper would probe into John Fryer＇s translation strategies by analyzing his Homely Words to Aid Governance as a case study, which will enrich and deepen the research angles on John Fryer both theoretically and practically.
