摘要
近年来,"农民工"的称谓引起了学界和管理层的热议和争论,究其原因,该称谓语法失范,概念不清,其涵义有明显的歧视色彩。"新市民"的称呼逐渐被人们接受。这一称谓的变化,折射出中国社会和谐发展及文明进步。通过对比分析该词英语翻译的几种译法,认为现在通用的rural migrant workers虽然忠于汉语原文,但既不简洁又会产生歧义,migrant workers更恰当贴切。
In recent years,the term of ＂rural migrant workers＂ attracts great concern and arguments from scholars and some officials in China.The term itself is not normative in terms of Chinese grammar and not clear in conception,even worse it possesses evident discrimination in connotation.Nowadays,the term of ＂New Citizens＂ becomes well accepted instead of ＂migrant workers＂.With the comparative analysis of some interpretations of the term,＂migrant workers＂ is the most appropriate one among them.
