Objective To compare the clinical effect of surgical and non-surgical treatment of middle or lower segment humerus shaft fracture. Methods Seventy patients treated in our hospital were selected, and divided into surgical group and non-surgical group, 35 patients in each group. The fracture healing rate, fracture healing time, nonunion, radial nerve injury and final Mayo elbow score of two groups were tested and compared. Results The fracture healing rate of surgical group was significant lower than non-surgical group (P 〈 0.05), fracture healing time was significant longer than non-surgical group (P 〈 0.05), nonunion and radial nerve injury were significant higher than non-surgical group (P 〈 0.05), and there was no significant difference in final Mayo elbow score between the two groups. Conclusion Non-surgical treatment of middle or lower segment humerus shaft fracture has higher fracture healing rate, shorter fracture healing time, fewer nonunion and radial nerve injury. It is worthy to clinical practice.
