摘要
在全球化的历史环境下,迫切需要在中国高等英语教育中融入批判教育。通过分析30位英语专业教师的访谈内容,本文就批判教育在本土环境的适用性问题进行了调查与思考。研究发现,他们对英语教育的"文化政治性"极不敏感,对"外语工具论"思想过度强调,对教师作为"文化工作者"的身份认同感极低。在全球化的历史新环境下,决策者、研究者、实践者需要在英语教育的政治观、语言观和文化观上解放思想,共同构建具有中国特色的高等英语批判教育。
In the new historical context of globalization,it is quite urgent to incorporate Critical Pedagogy into advanced English education in China.The article attempts to explore the applicability of Critical Pedagogy in local context by making content analysis of interviews to 30 English major teachers.It is found that they are much lacking in the awareness of the 'cultural political nature' of English education,they emphasize too much the idea of 'foreign language as instrument' and they are least in agreement with the teachers' identity as 'cultural workers'.Policy makers,researchers and practitioners need to emancipate mind in their ways of looking at politics,language and culture in English education and joining in constructing Critical Pedagogy in English higher education with Chinese characteristics.
