肉碱作为肉碱基转移酶的辅酶在长链脂肪酸的氧化代谢中起非常重要的作用。作为一种新型的饲料添加剂，它具有促进幼年动物生长、提高饲料利用率、改善胴体品质等优点。本文综述了肉碱的生理功能及在自然界中的含量，列出了猪和鸡饲料中的推荐添加量。
As the coenzyme of carnitine transferase, carnitine is very important in oxidation of long-chain fatty acids. As a new feed additive, carnitine can promote the growth of younger animals, increase efficiency of feed utilization and improve the quality of animal carcass. The physiological function of carnitine and its content in the nature were reviewed, and the carnitine's addition in swine and poultry's ration was listed.
