摘要
本文探讨了国内外翻译界对改写理论存在的主要分歧及其成因。认为:Munday所称的三要素实际是文学系统的控制要素,并且和Hornby等人的三要素一样,可以归结为两要素,翻译的四个层次也最终归为两个决定要素:意识形态和诗学。译者在翻译过程中受到意识形态和诗学两要素的制约,但译者并非毫无选择,他们可以选择接受,或试图挑战、超越这些约束。
This paper explores the different interpretations of the factors of rewriting theory and the reasons underlying these interpretations. It maintains that the three factors held by Munday are actually the controlling factors of literary system and, like the three factors proposed by Hornby, can be summarized as two factors; and that the four levels of translation also come down to two factors: ideology and poetics, which basically determine the image of a work of literature as projected by a translation. Translators operate under the constraints of ideology and poetics, but this doesn't mean there is no other choice; instead, they have the freedom to stay within the perimeters marked by the constraints, or to challenge those constraints by trying to move beyond them.
