It is the diaspora phenomenon caused by human's migrations that breaks the original close connection between the homeland and people's cultural identity.Living abroad, diasporas would rather confront themselves with a strong feeling of nostalgia than return to their homelands. With the example of Amy Tan's novel The Bonesetter's Daughter, this paper,on the basis of Chinese Americans'rough living experiences, attempts to analyze the different perceptions of the concept of homeland between the older generation of Chinese immigrants in United States and their descendents, which clearly illustrates the changes arising in Chinese Americans'cultural identity.
