摘要
长期以来,人们常常习惯把福建的简称"闽"与中国古代的蛇崇拜联系起来,认为二者之间存在密不可分的关系。但是多种证据表明,"闽人崇蛇"以及由此引申出的"福建是因为崇蛇才简称为‘闽’"的提法,至少在事实上和逻辑上都是不能自圆其说的,应予质疑。
People used to have the version that Min,the short form of Fujian,had a closely relationship with ancient Chinese snake worship for a very long time.However,evidence shows that the opinion of ＂Min people worship snakes＂ and the statement that Min,the abbreviation of Fujian,is originated from its snake worship doesn＇t have its convincing explanations at least from the facts and logics.
