摘要本文讨论了新世纪以来西方雅典民主研究的一些新取向,传统的对古典民主政治的恶评逐一被解构,把民主政治理想化的氛围愈益浓厚。奥伯等强调了人民在雅典民主政治建立中的作用,并将克里斯提尼改革视为"革命"。法律的统治和人民主权之间的关系得到新的探索,民主与法治被成功协调起来。由于现实政治和学术研究的发展,古代与现代民主之间的关系得到越来越多的探讨,两者之间原则上的相通受到更多的重视。它们表明,随着环境的变迁,现代与古代之间的对话具有了新的意义。 This paper discusses the new directions in the Athenian democracy studies in the past few years.The blames on ancient democracy were erased one by one and the idealization of it is becoming more and more apparent.Josiah Ober pays more attention to the roles of the Athenian demos in the formation of the Athenian democracy and claims that the Cleisthenic reforms were a revolution.It is also claimed that the rule of law and the popular sovereignty in classical Athens compatible and complementary.The relations of ancient and modern democracies are investigated thoroughly and their continuity in spirit is strongly suggested as the new political reality and classical scholarship are changing.The dialogues between the past and present will continue when we meet new challenges.
