A novel composite solid phase was fabricated by fluidized bed coating for protein adsorbents used in liquid fluidized bed protein recoveries (LFBPR). With a thin film, less than 10μm, of agar gel coated on surfaces of inert heavy particles in a size range of 300 ̄355μm, the composite solids presented excellent fluidization performances for LFBPR with a linear velocity up to 21.0 mm/s. Immobilized with Cibacron Blue 3GA bio active dye, the adsorbents had a protein binding capacity of 12.7 mg/ml. A model equation of adsorption equilibriumA =A m(C /K d) 1/2α fitted the experimental data well for BSA, with the model parameters K d=3.09,α=1.07.
