A dwarf mutant Jiangsuai was found from the rice variety Guihuahuang of normal plant height.The genetic analysis was carried out by using the cross combinations of Jiangsuai with tall or semidwarf varieties.The height of F 1 and F 2 plants indicated that the dwarfness of Jiangsuai was controlled by a single recessive gene which was non allelic with dwarfing genes sd1 and sds(t),and was temporarily named dj(t).Further study was done on the sensitivity of Jiangsuai to gibberellic acid(GA 3) and Multi Effects Triazole(MET).Jiangsuai had the strongest response in the treatment of GA 3,its sensitivity arose to 365 6%-466 9%.On the other hand ,Jiangsuai was not sensitive to MET treatment .It is supposed that Jiangsuai is deficient in gibberellic like substances.
