摘要
翻译普遍性研究中存在语际对比和语内类比两种模式.由于在研究对象的界定和方法论方面的差异.再加上翻译活动内在的不对称性、具体语言对以及文体类型等一些变量的影响,造成一些实证性研究的结果不尽统一。对此.本文试对产生问题的根源进行探讨,指出对普遍性概念的界定和方法论的选择是普遍性研究的首要问题,其次需要对各种变量加以关注和控制。最后,作者就未来此领域的进一步研究提出几点构想。
Translation universals are usually studied in two modes： the inter-language and the intra-language comparisons. In part because of the variation caused by the delimited research object and the adopted methodology, and in part because of the asymmetrical nature of translation activities, specific language pairs, and generic differences, the results of empirical studies of translation universals tend to be inconsistent when different modes are adopted. This paper explores the root causes for the said inconsistency. It identifies the specification of research object and the selection of the most effective methodology as the primary concerns in such studies, and goes on to argue that efforts should also be made to keep relevant research variables under control. Some tentative suggestions for future studies in this field are offered.
