摘要
和O.Henry的原作TheLastLeaf相比,汉语译文中部分词汇的意义和指称更容易确定,某些句子的逻辑关系更清楚,译文总体上比原文更容易理解,明晰化现象较为明显。明晰化是译者阐释的结果。阐释有助于读者深入理解原著,也容易使译文蒙上主观色彩;这既体现了翻译的创造性,又是翻译的局限性所在。
In the Chinese translation of O.Henrys The Last Leaf, the reference and meanings of some words are easier to identify, the logical relations of some sentences are clearer, and the translation as a whole is less difficult to read, and obviously more explicit. Explicitation that results from translators' interpretation facilitates but at the same time hinders readers' full comprehension of the source texts. Interpretation is subjective and thus the source of both creativity and limitations in translation.
