AD7705 is a high performance and low power 16 b Sigma -Delta A/D converter which is introduced by the AD Company. It employs a Programmable Gain Amplifier(PGA)and accepts low level signals directly from a transducer. This paper introduces its features and structure. The bit designations of the common on - chip registers are outlined as well as the considerations in programming. Self - calibration and system calibration on the AD7705 removes offset and gains errors from the device. Filed calibration and manual calibration are discussed exhaustively to deal with the uncertain conditions,and an example which can't be found in the datasheet is presented.
