The solvated metal atom impregnation (SMAI) and conventional impregnation (CI) methods were used to prepare three different mole ratio D 72 immobilized Ni Ag bimetallic catalysts respectively. The results of XRD and magnetic measurement showed that the Ni and Ag particle size of SMAI catalysts was smaller than that of CI catalysts with the same metal content. Both SMAI and CI catalysts had superparamagnetism and no Ni Ag alloy formed. The results of XPS measurement showed that the content of Ni 0 and Ag 0 of SMAI catalysts was higher than that of CI catalysts. The Ni content on the surface was higher than in the bulk for the SMAI catalysts, i.e. Ni was enriched on the surface ,whereas the Ni content on the surface was nearly the same as in the bulk for CI catalysts.
