A mixture of 3-acetyltropolone(1)and TMB(2)in ethyl orthoformate was refluxed for 10minutes in the presence of 70% perchloric to give 2-(3,4,5-trimethoxy) pheny1-4,9-dihydrocyclohepta[b]pyran-4,9-dione(3).3 is a new cumpound and its structure has been confirmeuby the IR、￣1H-NMR spectura analysis and elementary analysls。
