This paper summarizes advances in protoplast culture and plant regeneration of sweet potato, Ipomoea batatas . ( L.) Lam., and its related species ; donor and methods,for protoplast isolation; procedures and conditions for protoplast culture? problems associated with plant regeneration from protoplasm; and prospects for protoplast technology to sweet potato improvement.
