The article presents the modern design concept and methods forcrash safety of subway and suburban train, which reflects the engi-neering and technical practice popular in the present world as well asthe latest achievements attained in train passive safety technology.The paper also takes as examples several projects performed by Si-emens for the recent years, and moreover, provides basic requirements,design methods and common tools for the design and validation pro-cess on crash safety of trains in modern urban transit.
