摘要
在北京动物园,有一种俗称木黄瓜树的枝条,被一种象虫幼虫寄生,形成桃核大小的虫瘿,成虫羽化后凿一圆孔钻出。这一奇特的现象早已引起游人的注意,但可惜一直鉴定不出其学名。已故赵养昌教授对此潜心研究多年,收集了文献资料,认定为新种,但是没能成文发表即逝世。为纪念他在我国象虫分类研究的成就,特将此虫命名为赵氏瘿孔象。
In the present paper a new species of Coccotorus LeConte is described, and this genus is recorded for the first time from China. The type specimens are kept in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica.Coccotorus chaoi sp. nov. (figs. 1-3)Elongate, derm reddish brown or black, or both colors intermixed, densely covered with long brownish gray hairs and whitish gray hairs, the latter forming a few tufted areas: the median interrupted stripe, the middle of each side on pronotum, scutellum, humeri and the basal sides of elytra and a few small irregular spots on elytra.Rostrum slender, about as long as head and prothorax together () or longer than that (), incurvate slightly, not carinate; antennae inserted a little before the middle () or near the middle (), scape nearly as long as funicle; prothorax broader than long (4:3), widest before the base, strongly converging near the apex; elytra with prominent humeri, its sides nearly parallel, 2 times as long as broad, striae rather narrow, the 1st, 3rd and 5th intervals slightly raised; anterior femora with a triangular tooth, those of the middle and hind femora much smaller.Length 5.8-6.6mm. breadth 2.3-2.4mm.This new species is close to C. pruniphilus Chittenden, but differs from the latter in hav-ing slender body; the rostrum shorter, length about 1.5 mm, only 1/4 as long as the body; ely-tra 2 times as long as broad; the 1st, the 3rd and 5th intervals slightly raised; the male pygi-dium is more or less extruded in all specimens examined.Holotype , allotype , Beijing (Zoological garden), Mar. 4, 1955, by Wang Linyao; paratypes: 36, 29, ditto; 24, 35, Beijing (Zoological garden), Mar. 11, 1953, Sep. 21, 1956, April 18-Sep. 26, 1962, by Wang Linyao, Li Hongxing; 2, Shangdong (Jinan), 19.
