Our study aimed to determine the main risk factors for breast cancer in women aged 40 and under. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control study with exhaustive sampling of all respondents with histological proof over a 12-month period, matched by age. For all statistical tests, we used a significance threshold of 5%. Additionally provided are the ORs and their 95% confidence intervals, the mean, and standard deviation. Results: We collected 65 cases and 130 controls. The frequency of breast cancer in women aged 40 and under was 35.5%. The mean age was 35.6 ± 4.5 years among cases compared to 32.1 ± 7.9 years among controls. A significantly positive association was detected in both univariate and multivariate analysis between age and breast cancer [(OR) = 10.30;95% CI (1.99 - 53.23)] and [(OR) = 7.53;95% CI (1.82 - 31.23)];family history of breast cancer and breast cancer [(OR) = 9.99;95% CI (1.43 - 69.58)];smoking and breast cancer [OR = 13.11;95% CI (1.05 - 163.30)];sedentary lifestyle and breast cancer [OR = 3.36;95% CI (1.01 - 11.17)];and night work and breast cancer [(OR) = 72.05;95% CI (8.15 - 637.25)]. Conclusion: Earlier systematic screening and regular follow-up should be conducted in young women in our context.展开更多

文摘As an emerging multifunctional metal with the lowest melting point except for mercury, gallium combines a wide range of metallic and non-metallic elements to form advanced semiconductors critically important in cutting-edge technologies. However, due to its low melting point and poor machinability,it is quite difficult to simultaneously characterize gallium’s elastic properties and damping characteristics using conventional methods, which is es-sential in designing and evaluating gallium-based structures. Therefore, developing effective methods to achieve accurate and efficient measurements of Young’s modulus and corresponding internal friction of gallium is of great significance. This letter studies simultaneous measurements of the variations in Young’s modulus and internal friction of gallium at varying temperatures by employing the modified piezoelectric ultrasonic composite oscil-lator technique.Combining the explicit theoretical formulas with the measured resonance and anti-resonance frequencies,it has been discovered that Young’s modulus undergoes an approximately linear decrease as the temperature rises, declining from 83.84 GPa at -70℃ to 79.37 GPa at 20℃.Moreover,like aluminum in the same Group ⅢA of the Periodic Table of Elements and exhibits a grain-boundary internal friction peak, gallium displays a longitudinal internal friction peak at approximately-12°C,with the peak value reaching 1.77×10^(-3).This basic research on gallium’s elastic properties and damping characteristics under low-temperature condi-tions will inspire further explorations of the mechanical properties of a diverse spectrum of low-melting-point functional materials and facilitate applications of gallium-based structures under complex conditions.

文摘BACKGROUND Breast cancer(BC)is the second most common malignancy globally.Young and middle-aged patients face more pressures from diagnosis, treatment, costs, and psychological issues like self-image concerns, social barriers, and professional challenges.Compared to other age groups, they have higher recurrence rates, lower survival rates, and increased risk of depression.Research is lacking on factors influencing depressive symptoms and predictive models for this age group.AIM To analyze factors influencing depressive symptoms in young/middle-aged BC patients and construct a depression risk predictive model.METHODS A total of 360 patients undergoing BC treatment at two tertiary hospitals in Jiangsu Province,China from November 2023 to April 2024 were included in the study.Participants were surveyed using a general information questionnaire, the patient health questionnaire depression scale, the visual analog scale for pain, the revised family support scale, and the long form of the international physical activity questionnaire.Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to identify the factors affecting depression in middle-aged and young BC patients, and a predictive model for depression risk was developed based on these findings.RESULTS Among the 360 middle-aged and young BC patients, the incidence rate of depressive symptoms was 38.61%(139/360).Multivariate analysis revealed that tumor grade, patient’s monthly income, pain score, family support score, and physical activity score were factors influencing depression in this patient group(P<0.05).The risk prediction model constructed based on these factors yielded an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.852,with a maximum Youden index of 0.973,sensitivity of 86.80%,specificity of 89.50%,and a diagnostic odds ratio of 0.552.The Hosmer-Lemeshow test for goodness of fit indicated an adequate model fit(χ^(2)=0.360,P=0.981).CONCLUSION The constructed predictive model demonstrates good predictive performance and can serve as a reference for medical professionals to early identify high-risk patients and implement corresponding preventive measures to decrease the incidence of depressive symptoms in this population.
文摘AIM:To evaluate the prevalence of early post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)among young and middle-aged patients who have suffered open globe injuries, and to identify the psychosocial factors influencing PTSD in these patients.METHODS:A total of 280 patients who underwent ocular trauma surgery between January 2023 and January 2024 were selected through convenience sampling.Data were collected using a custom-designed demographic questionnaire, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CDRISC),the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire(C-ERRI),and the PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version(PCL-C).Univariate analysis and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis were performed to determine the factors affecting PTSD in these patients.RESULTS:The average PTSD score for the patients was 33.22±13.48.The scores for individual PTSD dimensions, ranked from highest to lowest, were recurrent traumatic experiences, heightened arousal, avoidance reactions, and social dysfunction.Positive PTSD symptoms were observed in 85 patients(30.36%).Univariate analysis indicated that gender, postoperative vision, marital status, psychological resilience, and rumination were significant factors affecting PTSD symptoms(χ^(2)/t=6.53,17.88,8.83,2.17,and 14.1,respectively;all P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between rumination and PTSD symptoms(r=0.73,P<0.01)and a negative correlation between psychological resilience and PTSD symptoms(r=-0.14,P<0.05).Stepwise multiple linear regression analysis identified postoperative vision(notably eye removal),rumination levels, and psychological resilience(optimism)as major factors influencing PTSD in these patients(R^(2)=0.57,P<0.001).CONCLUSION:Young and middle-aged patients with open globe injuries have a high incidence of PTSD.Significant risk factors for early PTSD include primary enucleation, high levels of rumination, and low psychological resilience(optimism).Conversely, patients with good postoperative vision recovery, low rumination levels, and high levels of optimism are less likely to develop PTSD.Healthcare providers should pay special attention to patients who undergo primary enucleation, strive to reduce their rumination levels, and enhance their psychological resilience, thereby promoting a positive and optimistic attitude towards their condition and reducing the incidence of PTSD.
文摘BACKGROUND Acute myocardial infarction(AMI)is rare among patients aged≤40 years but imposes significant morbidity, psychological distress, and economic burden.App-roximately 10%of AMI hospitalizations involve patients under 45 years,under-scoring the need to study this group.Compared to older patients, young AMI pa-tients exhibit fewer traditional risk factors(e.g.,hypertension,diabetes)but higher rates of smoking, obesity, and non-atherosclerotic causes like spontaneous coro-nary artery dissection or coronary spasm, often linked to substance use.Global trends show rising obesity and dyslipidemia in young populations, with smoking contributing to 62%–90%of AMI cases in this age group.Family history of coro-nary artery disease also elevates risk, particularly in acute coronary syndrome.Studies like Bhardwaj et al report that young AMI patients are predominantly male with single-vessel disease, unlike the multi-vessel disease typical in older cohorts. This study characterizes AMI in young adults(≤40 years)at a single center, focusing on presentation, risk factors, angiographic findings, and manage-ment to guide preventive strategies.AIM To describe the characteristics of AMI in young patients, including presentation, risk factors, coronary angiography(CAG)findings, and management strategies.METHODS This retrospective cross-sectional study analyzed 91 patients aged 20–40 years diagnosed with AMI at Mouwasat Hospital Dammam, from June 2020 to May 2023.Data on clinical presentation, cardiovascular risk factors,CAG findings, and treatments were collected from medical records.Descriptive statistics were used to summarize findings.RESULTS Of 91 patients(96.7%male,mean age 35.9 years±3.4 years),43.9%were obese(body mass index>30 kg/m^(2)).Hyperlipidemia was the most prevalent risk factor(69.2%),followed by smoking(49.5%),diabetes mellitus(33.0%),and hypertension(26.4%).ST-elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)was the most common presentation(57.1%).The left anterior descending artery was frequently affected(78.0%),with single-vessel disease predominant(72.5%).Most patients underwent percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)(74.7%),while 8.8%required surgery.CONCLUSION Young AMI patients are predominantly obese males with hyperlipidemia and smoking as key risk factors,pre-senting with STEMI and single-vessel disease amenable to PCI.

文摘Objective:To explore the current status of social alienation and its influencing factors among young and middle-aged stroke patients in Dali. Methods:A convenience sampling method was used to survey 385 young and middle-aged stroke patients in a tertiary hospital in Dali from December 2024 to July 2025.Questionnaires including general demographic information, the General Alienation Scale, the Athens insomnia scale, and others were administered. Results:The social alienation score of young and middle-aged stroke patients in Dali was(35.67±3.46).Univariate analysis showed that general demographic factors[education level, monthly household income, whether it was the first onset, presence of sequelae, disease duration, activities of daily living(ADL,Barthel Index)],social support,stigma,self-perceived burden, anxiety and depression, and sleep status were influencing factors of social alienation(P<0.05).Regression analysis indicated that social support, anxiety and depression, disease duration, stigma, presence of sequelae, and self-care ability were significant influencing factors of social alienation(P<0.01),explaining 65.3%of the total variance. Conclusion:The level of social alienation among young and middle-aged stroke patients in Dali is relatively low.Special attention should be paid to patients with a disease duration of<7 days, those with sequelae,moderate-to-severe dependence in self-care,low social support, high stigma, and high levels of anxiety and depression,to effectively reduce their social alienation.
文摘The single-point bending method, based on atomic force microscopy(AFM),has been extensively validated for characterizing the structural mechanical properties of micro-and nanobeams.Nevertheless, the influence of AFM probe loading and positioning has yet to be subjected to comprehensive investigation. This paper proposes a novel bending-test method based on sequential loading points,in which a series of evenly distributed loads are applied along the length of the central axis on the upper surface of the cantilever. The preliminary measured values of Young’s modulus for an unknown alloy material were 193,178,and 176 GPa,exhibiting a considerable degree of dispersion. An algorithm for self-correction of the positioning error was developed, and this resulted in a positioning error of 53 nm and a final converged Young’s modulus of 161 GPa.
文摘BACKGROUND Maturity-onset diabetes of the young(MODY)is a monogenic form of diabetes often misdiagnosed as type 1 or type 2.The MODY7 subtype, attributed to variants in the Kruppel-like factor 11(KLF11)gene,is exceedingly rare, and its clinical spectrum is not fully characterized.Precise genetic diagnosis is essential for appropriate management but is challenging due to phenotypic overlap with other diabetes types. This case report describes a patient with a novel KLF11 variant, contributing to the understanding of this rare condition and its clinical implications.CASE SUMMARY A 50-year-old female with a family history of MODY in her son was initially diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.Due to the family history and a non-obese phenotype,a comprehensive genetic panel for monogenic diabetes was performed. The analysis identified a novel heterozygous missense variant,p.Cys105Phe,in the KLF11 gene, establishing a definitive diagnosis of MODY7.Following this diagnosis, the patient’s treatment was adjusted to include lifestyle modifications, resulting in adequate glycemic control. The patient has since maintained target glycated hemoglobin levels.CONCLUSION Monogenic diabetes type MODY7,caused by a mutation in the KLF11 gene,is extremely rare.Although some studies question its existence, compatible cases continue to be diagnosed, given its inclusion in genetic panels for MODY.
