A mapping in the form of tanh(ax) is constructed according to the asymptotic of the potential function for the Zakharov–Shabat eigenvalue problem. The mapping can distribute Chebyshev nodes very well considering the gradient for the potential function. Using Chebyshev polynomials, tanh(ax) mapping, and Chebyshev nodes, the Zakharov–Shabat eigenvalue problem is transformed into a matrix eigenvalue problem. This method has good convergence for the Satsuma–Yajima potential and the convergence rate is faster than the Fourier collocation method. This method is not only suitable for simple potential functions but also converges quickly for a complex Y-shape potential. It can also be further extended to other linear eigenvalue problems.展开更多

Exact travelling wave solutions for each equation are derived and expressed in terms of hyperbolic functions, trigonometric functions and rational functions. The modified tanh-coth function method is easy to execute, brief, efficient, and can be used to solve many other nonlinear evolution equations.展开更多

The two-breather solution and the pure double-soliton solution have been given as two typical examples in illustration of the general formula of the multi-soliton solution. The asymptotic behaviors of the N-soliton solution are discussed in detail.展开更多

Firstly, differential characteristic set method and differential division with remainder are used for the calculation of inverse and extraction root of pseudo differential operator, such that the process is simplified since it is unnecessary to solve ordinary differential equation systems and substitute the solutions.Secondly, using differential characteristic set method, the nonlinear partial differential equation systems derived from the generalized Lax equation and Zakharov-Shabat equation, are reduced, and the corresponding nonlinear evolution equation is obtained. The related programs are compiled in Mathematica, a computer-based computer algebra system, and Lax representation of some nonlinear evolution equations can be calculated with the aid of the computer.展开更多
