The present study aimed to investigate the possible role of HO-1 in acetic acid-induced gastric mucosa damage in rats. HO-1 mRNA and protein expressions were determined at 1 day, 3 days, and 7 days after ulceration by RT-PCR and western blotting, respectively. The severity of ulcer was assessed by ulcer area. Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) which are involved in oxidative injury were also measured. HO-1 gene expression in gastric mucosa was markedly increased after luminal application of an acetic acid solution.展开更多

The precise mechanism of how sleep deprivation to affect the gastric mucosa barrier, especially at the molecular level, still remains unclear. To identify genes with relevance to sleep deprivation, a cDNA expression array analysis was performed on 588 cDNA clones on a filter to screen for genes with differential expression between the gastric mucosa of sleep deprivation and normal control rats.展开更多
