摘要 Preliminary studies showed that the inducible form of heme exygenase-1 (HO-1) was induced and played a protective role in the process of inflammation. The present study aimed to investigate the possible role of HO-1 in acetic acid-induced gastric mucosa damage in rats. HO-1 mRNA and protein expressions were determined at 1 day, 3 days, and 7 days after ulceration by RT-PCR and western blotting, respectively. The severity of ulcer was assessed by ulcer area. Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) which are involved in oxidative injury were also measured. HO-1 gene expression in gastric mucosa was markedly increased after luminal application of an acetic acid solution.
