摘要
苔丝是十九世纪末二十世纪初英国现实主义作家托马斯·哈代的代表作《德伯家的苔丝》中的女主人公。本文试图阐释维多利亚时代传统的道德、伪善的宗教和虚伪的法律等诸方面 ,并从而论证当时的社会才是造成苔丝悲剧的真正原因。苔丝的悲剧是社会的悲剧。
Tess is the protagnist of Tess Of The D'URBERVILLES written by Thomas Hardy. From the traditional moral, hypocritical religion and law of the Victorian Age, the authur explains why society leads to Tess'tragedy and suggesting that the tragedy of Tess is a social tragedy.
