Nine species of Rhopalus found in China are included in this paper, they are: R. (R.) parumpunctatus Schilling, R.(R.) subrufus (Gmelin) (new record to China),. R. (R.) albicarinus Liu et Nonnaizab, R. (Ae.) latus (Jakovlev), R. (Ae.) kerzhneri Gollner-Scheiding. R. (Ae.) tibetanus Liu et Zheng, sp. nov. R. (Ae.) maculatus (Fieber). R. (Ae.) sapporensis (Matsumura).Maps of distribution are presented.Rhopalus (Ae.) nigricornis (Hsiao) (Type examined)(= Aeschyntelus bicolor Hsiao 1965, Act. Zool. Sinica 17:429,434. Type examined (syn. nov.))The validity of nigricornis Hsiao has been doubted by some authors. The details of claspers and pygofer shown in this paper (figs 10-12, 14) prove that it is doubtlessly conspecific with bicolor Hsiao 1965. The differences in the color pattern of connexivum correspond to 2 different color forms. The dominant color of the. abdominal tergum varies considerably from yellow to black in the material series we examined.Rhopalus (Ae.) tibetanus Liu et Zheng, sp. nov.Ferrugineous brown to greyish brown, slightly shining, pubescence whitish, comparatively long and dense. Vertex flat, surface roughly crenulate, punctures black, post-clypeus, area between eye and ocellus, and a short longitudinal groove in front of ocellus black. Antennal segments 1-3 speckled with small black spots; underside of segment 1 sometimes black, segment 4 black, apical 1/3 reddish brown.Pronotum declivent, punctures dense, black; lateral margin slightly incurved at the level of callus, then straight; lateral angle not expanding outwardly, its apex black, slightly raised straightly upwards, disk tumid. Scutellum with dense black punctures, linght-colored lateral margin comparatively wide, apex whitish. Hemelytra with long hairs, veins with black spots. Membrane translucent. Femur and tibia with dense small black spots, inner side of hind tibia black at both ends, tarsi 3 black. Abdominal tergum black, a longitudinal elliptical spot on tergite 5 centrally, a pair of small spots at anterior margin of tergite 6, and a pair of larger spots at anterior margin of tergite 7 yellow. Connexivum black, apical 1/3-1/2 yellow. Hind margin of pygofer straight, clasper with apex black, suddenly bending downwards (toward the basis) in a sharp angle; apical half with long hair-tufts outwards; shaft strongly expanding inward into an angled olbe, sparsely covered with short hairs (fig. 15).Head length 1.41 mm, width 1.65 mm. Lengths of antennal segments 0.66: 1.55: 1.41: 1.50 mm. Pronotum length 1.69 mm, width 2.82 mm. Body length (?) 8.0 mm,(?) 8.7-9.2 mm.Holotype (?) , pqratypes 4 (?) (?), Xizang (Shannan), 1981 (kept in Nankai University).Allied to R. (Ae.) latus (Jakovlev), but the basis of antennal segment 4 black, without light-colored spot; black spots on vertex more extensive and black punctures more numerous; pronotum with punctures mostly black, lateral margin straight, lateral angle not expanded wing-like, apex black. Lateral margin of scutellum broader. Hairs on hemelytra longer, somewhat tomentose. Yellow area of connexivum more extensive. Clasper remarkably structured (fig. 15).
