The paper explores the essential properties and creativeness of scientific & technical information work,discusses the disciplinary autonomy of scientific & technical information science,and points out that the practice of scientific & technical information work calls for theoretical construction and it's of great importance to promote the combination of the theoretical study of scientific & technical information science with the practice of scientific & technical information work.Finally,the paper outlines the ways of making researches on scientific & technical information science.
