Objective:To study the inhibition effects of recombinant human secretory endostatin on corneal neovascularization of rabbits. Methods:Stitching cornea was used to induce the formation of corneal neovascularization in rabbits. On the first day after manipulation, recombinant endostatin and nor-mal saline were separatively injected into subconjunctival tissues to observe the growth of corneal neovas-cularization and histopathological changes. Results:Endostatin treatment group showed shorter elongations and smaller areas of new blood vessels than normal saline group. Moreover, fewer neovascularities,plasmo-cytes and fibroblasts in endostatin treatment group were observed under the light microscope(P<0.05).Con-clusion:The results indicated that the subconjunctival injection of recombinant endostatin could inhibit the growth of corneal neovascularization, which will provide a new method for the prevention and treatment of corneal neovascularization in clinic.
