林语堂是中国现代文学史上的重要作家,他开创了中国现代文学史上的幽默流派,指出了幽默在当时特定历史条件下的作用。在中国现代文学史上,他应该得到科学和合理的评价。
Lin Yutang, a leading writer in the history of Chinese contemporary literature, blazed the trails for the humorous school in modern Chinese literature. It was he who pointed out the function of humour in the special historical conditions. Therefore he should receive a credit with reasonable, scientific comments.
