摘要
纽曼的《大学理念》是对世界大学教育有着重大影响的名著,尤其是关于大学应该教授"全面知识"的观点,对于全面实施"素质教育"更具借鉴意义。就从理性出发的基督教研究而言,把它作为人文学科和社会科学的一个门类,纳入大学课程设置,显然是促使大学知识更加全面的努力中必要的一步。事实上,理智性和学术性始终是中国基督教研究的基本特点。当代中国大学走向"全面"、"综合"的需要,意味着基督教研究对之具有重要的意义,对于全面知识的传授,对于立足现实的科研,对于重在精神品格的素质教育,都是如此。
Aiming at the 'quality education' in todays China, the author of the paper reflects upon the major arguments of JHNewman in 'The Idea of a University', especially that of 'universal knowledge'. The features of Christian studies in China having been surveyed, it can be concluded that the Christian studies have a great significance to the instruction of universal knowledge learning, to the researches focusing on present society, and to the 'quality education' emphasizing on spiritual character in todays Chinese universities.
