We study the structures and rhythm layer of oolite in the polymetallic nodules from the East Pacific Basin using the Microscope and Microprobe. The re sult indicates that the structure is a reflection of environment that nodule has grown in. Different environment causes different structures in nodules. From th e composition and change of elements in the rhythm layer, we can get that the di fferent reflectivity in oolite is not the result of mineral composition. It just owe to these mineral which have a various crystallinity caused by the botto m water from Antarctica and other ocean affairs. Apart from this, we can conclud e that the rhythm layer is also indicates the change of environment, such as Eh, pH, and other environmental parameters. Because the layer is very thin, it only reflects a comparatively short time in geohistory.
