Based upon the measuring methods of formation amd dissipation time of drops chains, the mechanism of demulsification is discussed in some detail and a theoretical model is developed to account for the dissipation process of the chains, which will provide a reliable basis for choosing a suitable pulsed frequency. The experimental results show that the emulsions with a high phase ratio can be more efficiently separated by use of a high voltage, low frequncy and narrow pulsed field, which is important for applying pulse electric demulsification in practice.
