In this paper, an experimental setup for pneumatic transport of pulverized coal is set up. The stability of the flow and the factors affecting the flux of pulverized coal are discussed. The principal factors affecting the flux of solids are the top pressure and aperture of the orifice-plate flowmeter. The rating curve between them is parabolic comet. A method is proposed to predict the overall pipe-line pressure drop in horizonal, vertical and inclined dense phase pneumatic transport. Numerical values predicted by the method are consistent with experimental data on the transport of pulverized coal through a 20 mm diameter pipeline.
