摘要
语境对于语言的表达和理解具有语用和语义上的制约作用 ,特定的语境赋予词或句子以特定的含义。因此 ,翻译应以具体的语境为依据 ,以确定具体词汇在其语境下的语用意义。从构成语境的语言外知识的两个主要方面入手 ,对其所涉及的诸如文化、上下文、时间、地点、风格等几方面对语言翻译之影响进行了分析 ,阐释了语境在英汉翻译过程中的重要作用。
Context places pragmatic and semantic restrictions on the expressing and understanding of a language.A given context of situation gives the word or sentence a specific meaning.Therefore,translation should be based on its specific context so as to determine the pragmatic meaning in its context.With the two main aspects of the external knowledge of the language of the context,that is to say,background and situation knowledge,an analysis of the effects on translation from the main aspects involved such as culture,verbal context,time,place,style,ect.is presented and thus the importance of the context in the course of English-Chinese translation is interpreted.
